Factory & Facilities
Since 2009, BFG India has been the region's foremost manufacturer of FRP composite products and structures. With more than 100 projects completed, the facility serves rail, wind energy, marine, defence and industrial customers. BFG India's clients include BEML, Medha Servo Drives, Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Modern Coach Factory (MCF), Rail Coach Factory (RCF), Titagarh Rail System Limited (TRSL), Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), Aditya Birla, Wabtec Corporation, Larsen and Toubro Defence, and Ecoloo.
BFG India boasts a highly skilled workforce of nearly 200 across a 23,600 sq m facility (11,200 sq m built-up workshop) with state-of-the-art facilities including a dedicated gel coat booth with extraction system, an extensive painting facility with a pressurised spray chamber, flash off zones and curing chambers, an overhead crane and gantry for managing large parts, cold storage for phenolic resins, an in-house tooling shop, machine shop, and testing laboratory.

Manufacturing Capabilities
BFG India offers integrated end-to-end composite solutions encompassing engineering and design, manufacturing, and complete system integration. The facility's engineering team provides concept design, product specification, 3D modelling, structural FEA, and RAMS and LCC analysis. In manufacturing, the plant performs a comprehensive range of FRP processes across its 11,200 sq m production area.

Flagship Project: Vande Bharat Sleeper Train
In 2023, BEML awarded BFG India the contract for 10 train sets of the new Vande Bharat Sleeper Train. The scope includes design, development, manufacturing and supply of front ends, coupler covers, driver cabin interiors, saloon interiors, vestibule interiors and 6 types of toilet cabins — all in compliance with EN 45545 HL3.








ICF Train 18 / Vande Bharat Express
BFG India manufactures FRP front ends, driver's cab interiors, passenger interior panels, ceiling assemblies and integrated sanitary cabins for the original Vande Bharat Express (Train 18) programme at ICF Chennai.








Key Projects
Kochi Water Metro — India's First
BFG India designed, developed, manufactured, supplied and installed the FRP superstructure (25m long, 7.8m wide, 2.5m height), interiors, passenger seats, luggage racks, air conditioning ducts, handles, hand rails and driver desk for 24 water metro boats plus 1 hydrogen-powered boat, for Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) and operator KMRL. All FRP components were manufactured using vacuum infusion process. The project was completed with grand success in 2024 and has become a benchmark for 17 major Indian cities preparing water metro systems.



Mumbai Monorail
BFG delivered 10 train sets (4 cars each) for the Mumbai Monorail to Medha Servo Drives (operator: MMRDA). The scope included detailed design, manufacturing and supply of front mask, skirt panels, driver's desk, interiors, exteriors as per EN 45545 HL2, and seats as per EN 45545 HL3. Project completed in 2024.



Delhi Metro (DMRC)
BFG India delivered interiors and end caps for 59 train sets (4-car trains) in phenolic resin with painted finish for Bombardier (now Alstom). 162 cars executed in 2016-17.


Queensland Rail New Generation (QNGR)
BFG India delivered 75 train sets of front ends, driver desks and passenger interiors for Bombardier Transportation at their Savli, Gujarat facility. The front ends meet anti-ballistic requirements. Completed June 2019.


Chennai Metro (CMRL)
BFG India delivered interiors and driver cab components for 32 train sets (4-car trains) for Alstom, in fire retardant polyester resin with gelcoat and painted finish. First contract of 32 TS completed in 2019, with a further 10 TS extension order.

Kochi Metro (KMRL)
BFG India delivered front ends, sidewalls, seats, driver desks, cab partitions and end gangways for 25 train sets (3-car trains) for Alstom. Completed March 2017 — a landmark project delivered in just 6-8 months.

Sri Lanka DEMU
Produced at ICF Chennai — sidewall panels, ceiling panels, interiors and toilet cabins for Sri Lankan Railways.


Integrated Toilet Cabins
BFG India has delivered over 1,000 coaches of integrated toilet cabins for ICF, RCF, and other Indian railway clients, in both Eastern and Western styles with vacuum toilet systems. The RCF Garib Rath project features European-style toilet cabins with fire extinguishers and magnetic flap dustbins.







In-house Testing Laboratory
BFG India's in-house testing laboratory is equipped with tensile testing machines, impact testers, muffle furnaces, fire testing equipment, and precision measurement instruments to ensure all products meet international standards.








Ahmedabad & Surat Metro
In 2024, Titagarh Rail System Limited (TRSL) awarded BFG India contracts for the Ahmedabad Metro (20 front ends and driver desks) and Surat Metro (48 front masks and driver desks).
Aditya Birla — Aluminium Smelter Insulating Shells
In 2025, Aditya Birla awarded BFG India a contract for 1,046 electrical insulating shells used in aluminium smelters for the 180 Potline project in Odisha, India — marking BFG India's entry into the industrial sector.
Wind Energy
BFG India has delivered more than 200 nacelles and 250 spinners for wind energy customers including Gamesa (G9X, G114 models) and GE Energy.

Based in Sri City Special Economic Zone near the southern city of Chennai, BFG India is connected for business with an extensive regional road network, Tirupati Airport 75 km away, and two international seaports — Krishnapatnam and Chennai — within 65 km. Receiving export clearance at its factory gates, the business is also exempt from duty on its imports and domestic purchases.
BFG India's sectors now span rail, wind energy, marine (boats), defence, and industrial (insulating shells for aluminium smelters). BFG India is a wholly owned subsidiary of BFG International.
